Ever had a first date that made you want to fake an emergency call from your non-existent pet goldfish? We've all been there! 🐠

As a relationship coach who's heard thousands of dating horror stories (and lived through a few myself!), I've compiled the ultimate list of first date dealbreakers that deserve an immediate "thank you, next" response.

Phone Addiction: The Third Wheel Nobody Asked For

There's nothing quite like pouring your heart out about your childhood dreams while your date's eyes are glued to their Instagram feed. If they can't put their phone away for a two-hour dinner, they certainly won't be present for the real challenges of a relationship.

Remember, the notification can wait—your precious time and energy cannot! ⏰

The Ex Files: When The Past Won't Stay Past

We all have history, but there's a time and place for unpacking emotional baggage—and it's not during appetizers on your first date! If they're comparing you to their ex, still visibly angry about their past relationship, or worse, still in contact with them during your date, run don't walk! 🏃‍♀️

Your future deserves someone who's emotionally available, not someone who's still living in yesterday's drama.

The Conversation Monopolizer

Dating is a dance of give and take. If your date treats the conversation like a one-person show, constantly interrupting or bringing every topic back to themselves, take note. This isn't just poor social skills—it's a preview of how they'll treat your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a relationship.

Genuine curiosity about who you are isn't optional—it's essential. ✨

Disrespect Toward Service Staff

Watch carefully how they treat waitstaff, bartenders, or anyone in a service position. This reveals more about their character than any carefully curated dating profile ever could. Rudeness to service workers is a glaring red flag that shouldn't be ignored.

Remember: kindness isn't situational—it's a core value. 💝

The Pressure Cooker

First dates should be light, fun, and an opportunity to see if there's genuine connection. If your date is already mapping out your future children's names or pushing for exclusivity before the dessert menu arrives, they're not respecting the natural pace of relationship development.

Healthy relationships bloom with time, not under pressure. 🌱

Trust Your Intuition

At the end of the day, your intuition is your most powerful tool. If something feels off, it probably is. Don't talk yourself out of your gut feelings—they're trying to protect you!

Remember, a truly incredible connection won't leave you feeling confused, anxious, or like you're walking on eggshells. The right person will make you feel safe, respected, and excited about what's to come.

All your love & blessings are making me abundant as I continue this journey of helping people find and nurture healthy, fulfilling relationships. I feel blessed to be sharing these insights with you! ✨🫶
